Solar in the monsoon: what to expect

Why generation dips in June–September, why it still makes sense, and how we design for Kerala rain.

Kerala gets heavy rain from June to September, and again in the retreating monsoon. Solar panels keep working through it, but you will see lower numbers on dark days.

Why generation drops

Panels produce most power in direct sun. Thick cloud reduces the light that reaches them. Diffuse light still produces power, just less of it.

Why solar still pays

We size your system on a full year of generation. Strong months from January to May make up for the monsoon. Net metering lets credits from sunny months count against your bill.

How we design for the rain

  • Hot-dip galvanised or aluminium structures that do not rust
  • Sealed roof fixings, so the roof stays leak-free
  • Proper earthing and a lightning arrester
  • Cable routing and connectors rated for outdoor use

A bonus: monsoon rain cleans your panels for free.
